ACT Katrinia Information

ACT is continuing efforts to determine the best way to help students who have been affected by Hurricane Katrina. We encourage students, parents and school officials to bookmark this page and check back for updates and detailed information. For immediate concerns, contact ACT toll free at 866/763-3228 between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m., central time, Monday through Friday.

Following is an update of services ACT is providing for students affected by the hurricane:

  • ACT will waive the fees to change the test center or test date for affected students who are already registered for the September or October ACT test dates.

ACT will waive late fees for students affected by the hurricane who register for the October ACT by September 23.

  • ACT will also waive late fees for students who register online and submit their registration for the October test date by 12 noon, central time, Tuesday, September 27, 2005.
  • The telephone reregistration fee is being waived for affected students who registered for the ACT previously and wish to reregister via phone for the October ACT test date.

  • Score reporting fees are being waived for students displaced by the hurricane who need to send their ACT scores to a college where they wish to transfer.
  • We have ensured that ACT testing sites for the September test date will all be open.
  • We are currently attempting to make contact with our test centers in the areas affected by Hurricane Katrina to determine which will be open for the October ACT test date. We are also determining where additional test sites and capacity will be needed. This information is being posted on ACT.org as it becomes available.

  • Some students from affected areas may no longer have a photo ID to show to testing officials on test day. ACT's procedures allow students who don't have photo ID to present a letter from the school they are now attending.
