Comets host St. James in state semifinals

For the second time in two years the Comets will be hosting a state semifinal football playoff game. Friday night the Comets will welcome district and River Parish rival St. James Wildcats to Thomas Dupuy stadium. The two teams are very familiar with each other as this will be the 4th time they have met in the last two years. Since 1999 the two teams have played 11 games with the Wildcats holding a slim 6-5 lead in the series. Last year it was the Comets who eliminated the Wildcats in the playoffs in a 21-19 thriller at St. James. The Comets then advanced all the way to the state championship. Earlier this season, the Wildcats defeated the Comets 17-9 in a game much closer than the final score as the Comets led 9-3 going into the 4th quarter.
