Comet Classic Results
The Comets had some ups and downs this past weekend in their annual tournament. In the boys' first game Saturday morning they came out ready to play. The Comets played De La Salle. Alex Marse led off the game with a base hit up the middle. Mark Picciola walked on a base on balls. With first and third Alex Marse stole home as De La Salle attempted to throw out Mark Picciola. Jordan Millet got an infield base hit scoring Picciola. In the 2nd inning Nick Reine got a base hit and scored when they attempted to throw out Matt Bonnecare. In the 3rd inning Corey Reed got a base hit to right field and stole second. Marc Picciola scored Corey with a double to center field. Nick Reine got the win on the mound with Brady Hitt getting the save. The Comets defeated De La Salle 7-1.

The Comets were defeated by the Riverside Rebels 9-5 the second game. The Comets had a big inning in the 3rd when they scored four runs making it 4-3. Marc Picciola and Corey Reed had the only two hits. After a tough loss against Riverside the Comets bounced back tying the 2007 2A semifinalist team Sterlington. Brandon Becker and Jonathan Cancienne led the team with two hits. Jonathan had two doubles while Brandon had two singles. Nick Reine was also a factor with a base hit and a home run in the bottom of the 6th to tie the game 8-8. Unfortunately, the time limit was up.
In the last game of the tournament the Comets finished with a big win against Jesuit. The Comets put on a hitting display with 14 hits. Corey Reed went 4-4 with two singles, a double, and a home run. Jordan Millet also hit a home run for the Comets. Matt Bonnrcarre had two singles along with Alex Marse and, Jonathan Cancienne had a single and double. Donovan Duffy got the win and Corey Reed came in with the save in the 6th. The Comets won 11-3. Congratulations to the Comets for the first win against the Jesuit Blue Jays in Comet history.
