Ryan Auto Group Tourney

Monroe, LA.The Comets played great this past weekend coming out with a tournament record of 3-1. The Comets defeated Van Alstyne, Crossett, and Sterlington. They lost to a tough Ouachita Christian team.

The weekend started off slow for the Comets when they saw there selves losing 6-0 in the top of the third inning. But the Comets showed no mercy in the bottom of the 3rd and 4th innings scoring 13 runs with 9 hits and 13 stolen bases. Sparking the Comets in the bottom of the 3rd was Matthew Murphy with a basehit to left field. Cory Reed and Marc Picciola walked and stole a few bases to have runners on 2nd and 3rd when Jordan Millet would blast a 3 run home run over right-center field. After Millets homerun Cancienne would hit a base-hit down left field line. Reine and Bonnacarre would be hit by a pitch. Marse would ground out to to shortstop to end the inning. In the bottom of the 4th the Comets would wake up the sticks again scoring 7 runs with 4 hits. The Comets won 13-6.

The winning pitcher was Jared Keating (1-0).

The Comets had a tough game Friday night against the Ouachita Christian Eagles. Nick Reine pitched 7 hard innings with 8 strike outs and only giving up 3 hits. Although he pitched with a winning attitude he still gets the loss which brings him to (1-1). This would be the Comets only loss in the tournament. Leading the Comets at the plate were Wesley with 2 hits and Marse, Picciola, and Reine all with 1 hit.

The Comets rebounded from a tough loss Friday night. Duffy would have a tough first inning, but also wasn't getting any help from the infielders. After the tough 1st inning, Duffy shut down the rest with also getting some help from his players. The Comets came out swinging the bats to make up for 2 errors in the first inning. Scoring 13 runs with 11 hits. Leading the plate for the Comets were Reine with 3 hits and Marse and Reed had 2 hits. Picciola, Becker, and Millet all had 1 hit. The winning pitcher was Donovan Duffy (2-1) and Corey Dugruy with the save.

The Comets faced a tough Sterlington team for the Championship game Saturday night. Earlier in the season when these two teams faced, they tied 8-8. The Comets had other thought this time. They weren't satisfied with a tie. They were in the tournament to win it all, and they did. Keating started off the game dominating on the mound, but later had to leave because of arm troubles. Thats when Hitt, Marse, and Duffy came in and shut the door. Not only was the pitching dominate but also the fielding, hitting, bunting, and stealing. The Comets played there game. They scored 3 runs in the first, 1 in the second, 1 in the fifth, and 1 more in the sixth. Leading the Comets at the plate were Alex Marse with 2 hits, Picciola, Becker, Cancienne, and Reine with 1 hit.
