LaPlace, LA - Missed chances and errors cost the Comets in their home opener at Comet Diamond. After allowing a run in the top of the first, SCC responded with 4 in the bottom of the first to take a 4-1 lead. Northshore tied it up in the top of the second with three in the second. The Lady Panthers took a 5-4 lead in the fourth with an unearned run and pushed the lead to 8-4 with three more in the 5th. The Comets left the bases loaded in the 5th, but rallied in the bottom of the sixth. Paige Braud and Bridget Millet got back to back hits. Mary Clement was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Felicia Taylor's bases clearing double scored three runs to cut the lead to one. A base running blunder on a liner to second gave the Lady Panthers an easy double play opportunity that went F4 / 4-5 to erase the potential tying run from third. With the tying run at second, a ground out to the pitcher ended the rally. Millet, Taylor, and Kayla Rebaldo each collected two hits on the afternoon to lead SCC. The Comets fell to 0-6-1.
