On Thursday, February 12, the Comets played and defeated the Lutcher Bulldogs in the first district game of the season. The final score was 4-3. Courtney Western pitched and had 9 strikeouts. The Comets exploded in the third inning scoring 3 runs. Meg Gustafson led off the inning by drawing a walk. Then Kadie Levantino hit a single. Dominique Dicarlo reached on a bunt loading the bases. Courtney Western then hit a single scoring 2 runs. Dominique DiCarlo later scored. The Bulldogs got one back in the fourth inning. The Comets later scored again in the sixth inning. Katie Reine led off with a single. Brooke Becker got her to second on a bunt. Megan Louque got her to third on a single. Finally, Emily Bourgeois drove her in with a sacrifice fly. The Bulldogs were able to score 2 runs in the final inning but the Comets were able to hold on for the victory.
