Comets fall 2-1 in quarterfinals
On Friday, May 1, the Lady Comets suffered a close 2-1 loss to end their season in the quarterfinal round of the playoffs. Courtney Western pitched the entire game and struckout 7 in the game. Emily Bourgeois hit a solo home run in the second inning to help the Lady Comets jump out to a 1-0 lead. Unfortunately, they weren't able to capitalize on the early lead. Congratulations to the Softball team for a great season, and good luck next year.
Comets advance to state tournament
On Friday, April 24, the Comets defeated Rayville 6-0 in the bi-regional round of the playoffs. Courtney Western pitched all 7 innings and struck out 9 and threw a no hitter. Kaite Reine went 2 for 3 at the plate and drove in 2 runs. The Comets will take on Catholic New Iberia at 12 noon in the quarterfinals Friday at noon. The semifinals and finals will be played Saturday at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. The Comets will try to capture a second straight state title.
Comets begin playoffs with big win
The Comets easily defeated Wossman by the score of 15-0. All 15 runs were scored in the first inning for the Comets. Megan Louque led the way for the Comets from the circle with 8 strikeouts and allowing zero hits. The Comets will face Rayville at home on Friday at 4 p.m. The winner advances to the quarterfinals next week at the state tournament in Sulphur.
Comets defeat Brusly 1-0 in 10 innings
The Comet softball team defeated Brusly 1-0 in 10 innings. Courtney Western struck 18 and did not allow any hits in pitching the shutout. Dominique DiCarlo knockwed the winning run in the bottom of the 10th inning. With the win the Comets claimed sole possesion of second place in the district. The Comets palyed at Port Allen Wednesday and will host Belle Chasse Saturday. During the holidays the Comets will host Plaquemine and Covington next Tuesday and Wednesday.
Comets go 2-1-1 in Riverside tournament
The Comets participated in the Riverside tournament this past weekend. The Comets played 4 games and went 2-1-1. They defeated Hahnville 2-0, Chapelle 2-0, tied Dominican 0-0, and lost to Vandebilt 3-0.
Comets win big over Plaquemine
The Lady Comets bounced back from the Lutcher loss with a big win over the Green Devils of Plaquemine on Wednesday. They won by the score of 23-2 and now have a record of 3-2 in district. The Comets host Ascension Catholic and look to continue a big winning streak on Thursday.
Comet lose tough one to Lutcher
On Tuesday, the Lady Comets suffered a tough loss to the Lutcher Bulldogs 2-1. Dominique DiCarlo and Emily Bourgiois led the way at the plate, both coming up with 2 hits. The Comets district record fell to 2-2 after the loss.
