Comets win first playoff game
host Pearl River in regionals
St. Francisville, LA- The Comets opened up the first round of the playoffs with a bang, beating the West Feliciana Saints, the second place team in district 8-3A.
St. Charles
opened up big after the first two batters scored, Braud and Millet, in the top of the first. The Comets played a strong defense until
West Feliciana
(14-12) scored with their first batter in the bottom of the second after a base hit. The Comets responded with four runs in the top of the third with a double by Coniglio, and a set of base hits by Rebaldo and Reine.
St. Charles
added three more in the fourth. The Saints reacted with two in the fourth after errors by the Comets. A solo homerun in the sixth by Coniglio made the score 10-3. Another homerun was hit by Clement in the seventh. The Comet defense held up in the seventh and allowed only two more runs to make the final score 11-5. Leading the Comets at the plate was Coniglio with a homerun, a double, and 3 RBIs. Clement also had a homerun and Rebaldo had 2 RBIs. The Comets had 10 overall hits. The Comets only allowed 7 Saints on bases. That was with help by Clement and her 5 strikeouts. The Comets will play Pearl River Rebels for regionals at home on Friday at 4:30.
Pearl River
is 10-8 and the first place team from district 9-3A.
