Comets defeat Rayne in playoffs,
state tournament in Sulphur next
The Comets played their regional playoff game against Rayne on Friday, April 18. Both teams came out ready to play. In the first inning both teams played great defense end went 3 up 3 down. The Comets held Rayne to only one hit in the top of the second. Rayne held the Comets to only one hit also. The third inning was much of the same as the second. The Comets scored 1 run in the 4th making the score 1-0. Rayne managed to score 1 run in the 5th to make the score tied at 1. In the bottom of the inning the Comets answered with 2 runs of their own to take 3-1 lead. Jessie Braud and Courtney Western both doubled to spark the Comet rally. The Comets would score another run in the sixth making the final score 4-1. The Comets will go to the State tournament to play Buckeye in the quarterfinals on Friday April 25.
