Cheerleaders look to summer and next school year

The 2009-2010 cheerleaders are already practicing for the next school year. The new captain, co-captains are busy seeking new ideas and ways to make next year a success. These plans will better prepare the team for the upcoming year that lies ahead. Running a squad of twenty five girls won't be easy but captain Raleigh Benoit and her co-captains Meghan Fisse and Haley Jeandron know from experience that it will result in a great year. With the guidance from Mrs. Tina Jeandron, the cheerleader sponsor, this team of leaders will set goals that they expect their squad to accomplish throughout the year.

The team is already starting to learn new cheers, stunts, and rountines. The girls will travel to LSU for the annual UCA camp from June 1 through June 4. Here the girls will compete against other squads in home routine, extreme routine, and cheer routine. At camp the team will also learn new and improved cheers, dances, and stunts that they will use throughout the year. Here they will also get the extra help from the UCA staff and time to come together as a new squad and family.

From June 8 through June 12 the cheerleaders will host their annual mini camp for everyone who would like to participate. This camp is a big fundrasier for the cheerleaders and gives them a realization of how many little girls look up to them. Information for this camp will be available on the front homepage of the website as the dates approach. When captain Raleigh Benoit was asked about the upcoming year she stated, "Im very excited about the new squad and can't wait to get things started. I am proud to say that all the girls are working extremely hard, and it is promising to be a good year."

Come out to support our SCC cheerleaders, GOOD LUCK GIRLS!!!
