" Run for the Son" Race Results
New records were established in the 5th annual FCA “Run for the Son” 5K race and one-mile fun run walk held Saturday March 19th at
St. Charles
Catholic
High School
in
Laplace
. Runners and walkers of all ages enjoyed near perfect spring weather conditions with low humidity and a very light cool breeze. The race was dedicated to Brittany Vicknair a 2004 graduate of SCC and previous race winner who is recovering from meningitis.
Kelley Carambat set a new 5K record in the female division with a time of 22:27. Carambat shattered the old record by nearly 4 minutes. Andre Ory set a new record in the male division with a time of 18:42. Ory eclipsed the old record by 42 seconds. In the one-mile run SCC freshman Jonathan Cancienne set a new course record with a time of 5:34 beating the old record by 8 seconds. Comet junior Lauryn Burns tied Brittany Vicknair’s record in the one-mile with a time of 7:01.
The top ten female runners in the 5K race after Carambat were Countess Comadore (24:02), Toni Ladner (26:15), Mary Clair Simon Hotard (27:53), Susie Aubert (28:10), Michelle Bibbs (28:58), Nancy Thames(28:28), Cheri Williams (29:00), Anna Faucheux (29:02), Holly Madere Hymel (29:05), and Theresa Fisse (30:12). The top ten male runners in the 5K race after Ory were Ken Massett (20:14), Sean Doody (20:16) , Brent Bueche (20:31), Robert Dehoyos (22:10), Kerry Labat (22:16), Benjamin Bergeron (22:37), Michael Macaques (22:47), Lucas Roussel (24:14), Emile Bergeron 24:14), Drain Helm (24:40) and Reid Owens (24:40).
The top ten female runners in the one-mile race after Burns were Paige Chauvin (7:17), Meg Gustafson (7:30), Kimberly Schexnayder (7:40), Elise Loisel (7:38), Chelsey Brignac (9:00), Ashley Brocato (9:02), Ashley Brouwer (9:37), Nicole Kliebert (9:37), Jeanne Loisel (10:23), and Catherine Bordelon (10:24). The top ten runners in the one-mile after Cancienne were Cardell Wallace (5:39), Robert DeHoyos (5:49), Jordan Millet (5:55), Michael Macaques (5:59), Roland Ricca (6:01), Steven Graver(6:11), Chase Fletcher (6:14), Alex mares (6:19), Quinn LeBlanc (6:19), and Casey Robottom (6:25).
Winners by age category in the 5K race were Benjamin Bergeron, Matt Harris, Robert DeHoyos, Kerry Labat, Reid Owens, Casey Pregeant, Toni Ladner, Nancy Thames, Drew Pregeant, Countess Comadore, Mary Clair Simon Hotard, Ken Massett, Sean Doody, Susie Aubert, Cheri Williams, Mike Williams, Louie Brazan, and Jenny Lind.
St. Charles Catholic Alumni winners were Randy Hymel (Class of 1983) and Holly Madere Hymel (Class of 1989). SCC students winning awards by class were Quinn LeBlanc, Rebecca Brock, Jordan Millet, Jeanne Loisel, Michael Macaques, Chelsey Brignac, Roland Ricca, Kimberly Schexnayder, Raymond Templet, Nicole Kliebert, Joey Metge, and Kerry Labat. Faculty winners were Wayne Stein, Pam Matus, Jeff Montz and Lee Ann Kliebert.
A special award was given to 9 year old runner Elise Loisel who was accidentally knocked down at the start of the one-mile race. Loisel amazingly finished 5th after losing approximately 45 seconds at the start of the race.
Over 100 awards and prizes were given out after the race which was sponsored by 30 businesses, politicians, and local food establishments. The proceeds help fund the Fellowship of Christian Athletes expenses for national summer camp in
North Carolina
and
Georgia
