The 8th annual FCA “Run for the Son” was held Saturday March 15, 2008 at
A new race record was set in the female division of the 5K race. Gina Radecker of St. Rose set a new record with a time of 21:52 eclipsing the old record of 22:01 set by Kelley Carambat in the 2006 race. Ben Bergeron won the male 5K division with a time of 19:09 but the time fell short of race record of 16:42 set by Chad Callais in 2007.
SCC junior Reyna Lubin won the one mile female division with a time of 6:15. This set a new record in the female one mile division. David Christensen won the one mile male division with a time of 5:35 falling short of the record of 5:18 race record set by Robert Dehoyas in 2006.
The top ten female runners in the 5k race were Gina Radicker (21:52), Jennifer Christensen (22:18), Kelley Carambat (23:35), Amanda Helm (24:24), Victoria Young (24:26), Heather Braase (25:26), Mikie Richoux,(25:28) , Else Dandridge (26:24), Anna Faucheux (24:30), and Courtney Guidry (29:30). Top ten in the 5K male division were Ben Bergeron (19:09), Brent Beuche (19:12), Randall Accardo (19:48), Keith Balza (19:48), Juan Perez (20:12), Johnny McBride (20:38), Chris Millet (20:40), Klay Olasin (20:42, Baishawn Pratt (21:05), Paul Dupuy (21:11).
The top ten female runners in the one mile were Reyna Lubin (6:15), Erica Blank (6:33), Emily Bourgeois (7:07), Elise Loisel (7:17), Katie Tregre (7:27), Brittany McMurry (7:29), Leila Boudreaux (7:45) , Megan Vollenweider, (7:56), Rebecca Cox (7:59), and Lauren Guarino (8:37). Top ten in the male one mile run were David Christensen (5:34), Brett Landry (5:35), Justin Vicknair (5:43), James Krawczyk) (5:46), Jared Keating (5:54), Brady Hitt (5:55), Zachary Matus (6:05), Neil Schexnayder (6:07), Zachary Goodwin (6:15), and Devin Snyder (6:19)
After the race over 100 awards and prizes were given out to participants. Local businesses helped to underwrite the race and donated door prizes. This year’s race was the most successful ever setting several new records including 275 runners and walkers erasing the old record of 225 set in 2007. Proceeds benefit the local Fellowship of Christian Athletes and help to finance their annual trip to summer camp.
