TO BACK AND STREAKING
The victory over Lawless gives the Comets their first back to back wins since they defeated consecutive foes St. Martin’s and Ridgewood in 1998. Friday night St. Charles Catholic will go for a trifecta when Newman comes to Dupuy Stadium. The last three game run was also in 1998 when SCC beat Redeemer-Seton, Berwick, & Pine in a three week span. HELLO, NEWMAN The Comets’ & Greenies’ series dates back to the late ‘70’s when the two schools played each other in Class AA. The games have always been ultra competitive and very rarely has there ever been a blow out. Newman’s trip to LaPlace will be the first trip to Dupuy Stadium since 1996. That season SCC took a 24-21 victory over the Eli Manning led Greenies. NO MORE SPLINTERS FOR RESERVED SEATS Friday’s game will be the last game on wooden seats for the reserved seat and season ticket holders. Aluminum bleachers are being shipped on Tuesday, September 19 and are scheduled to arrive in LaPlace on Friday. Following the game Friday, volunteer work crews will begin the task of swapping out the wooden seats for the aluminum ones. Along with the new seats, the step boards on the three isles will be changed to aluminum as well. Next year, the two general admission sections will be upgraded. UNSCHEDULED BROADCAST Several listeners around the New Orleans Metro area got the chance to listen to the final seconds of the Lawless victory. In the process of calling in the game update, the back to back TD’s occurred and the extra point play-by-play was heard live on WTIX-FM 94.3. TIX-FM is the new home of the ORIGINAL Prep Round Up Show at 8 p.m. each Friday. The ORIGINAL Prep Round Up Show is hosted by voice of the New Orleans Zephrys and long time New Orleans broadcaster Ken Trahan.
