Ilski's field goal wins for River Parish All-Stars

The River Parish all stars defeated the Bayou all-stars on a last second 52 yard field goal by SCC kicker Chris Ilski. The local team made up of players from all 8 River Parish football playing schools had many chances to put the game away but ended up fighting off a tough Bayou team until the very end. The game was played on the new turf field at Nicholls State.

It looked like the game was well in hand with about a minute left with the River Parish team ahead 17-10 and in possession of the football. But a fumble in the backfield was recovered by the Bayou team who scored very quickly to tie the game at 17-17.

With under a minute to go the River Parish team moved the ball slowly down the field until they reached the Bayou 35 yard line with only 8 seconds left to play. After a time-out Ilski kicked the game winning 52 yard field goal. Earlier he had made two extra points and another 34 yard field goal. Islki was named the MVP for the River Parish team that had several other outstanding performances in the game.

SCC was well represented in the game with Corey Reed (DB), Donovan Duffy(TE), Jonathan Cancienne (RB) and Corey Crowder (DB). Frank Monica was the head coach for the River team with Comet coaches Wayne Stein and Paul Waguespack serving as assistant coaches. Comet football manager Joey "Spook" Metge was the team's manager.
