Football Camp held at Nicholls State
Last week the Comet football team began fall practice with a week long camp at Nicholls State. The Comets were able to practice on the new turf field for most of the week which turned out to be a blessing with the heavy rains that pounded South Louisiana all week. Coach Monica and the coaching staff worked with 94 football players for 8 practice sessions. Thursday night the Quarterback Club cooked a special steak dinner for the team. After the steak dinner, family and friends joined the team for a "skit night" in Peltier auditorium. The Comets will resume practice Monday August 6 at the school practicing in half pads for three days. Thursday August 9th the Comets will practice in full pads for the first time. One week later (Aug. 16), the Comets host St. Michael of Baton Rouge in a scrimmage that will begin at 5 p.m. The Quarterback Club is currently working on the construction of the new visiting bleachers obtained from the old Archbishop Hannan school site in Mereaux. The first Quarterback Club Meeting will be held Tuesday August 14 in the school cafeteria.
