Comets Cruise Past Desire
Host Riverside Friday Night

SCC played their homecoming game against Desire Street Acedemy this past Friday night. The Comet offense scored early and often against Desire. The defense also played a great game given up only 12 points along with the special teams making some big plays with a block punt and a saftey. Preston Landry would be a perfect 2 for 2 on extra points and Chris Jones would have over 100-yards rushing on 11 attempts. The final score was 47-12 in favor of SCC.

SCC would recieve the opening kickoff and Roland Ricca would return the ball all the way to the Desire 30-yard line. This would set up a 25-yard touchdown run by Chris Jones. A two-point conversion would give the comets an early 8-0 lead. The defense would force Desire to punt on their first drive. The punt, however, would be blocked by Micheal Troglen. The block punt would then set up a 15-yard touchdown run by Casey Robottom.

The second quarter would not start off well for SCC. The first play from scrimmage for Desire would be a 48-yard touchdown run. A failed two point conversion would make the score 15-6. The offense would strike right back on their next drive on a touchdown run by Chris Jones for his second score of the game. The defense after giving up a long run would shut down Desire the rest of the half. The offense would score two more times before the half was over. A touchdown run by Corey Clay, and a touchdown pass by Philip Sutton to Casey Robottom would make the halftime score 38-6 in favor of SCC.

The second half the Comets dominated and would close out the game with an impressive win. The first score would be on another block punt by the comets and would go in the endzone for a saftey. Sophomore running back Jonathan Cancienne would score the final touchdown for SCC. Desire would manage to score one more time late in the 4th quarter to make the score 47-12.

The comets win improves their record to 6-1 overall and 2-1 district record. SCC next game is against Riversaide Academy. The game is scheduled for Friday October 28th. Kickoff is 7pm at Dupuy Stadium.
