Comets rally for win at Brusly
The Comets found a way to win as they defeated the pesky Panthers 28-21 in Brusly. The Comets rallied from a 21-14 deficit in the fourth quarter to score 14 unanswered points and pull out the victory. The Comets are now 6-1 overall and have a district record of 2-0.
The offense struggled in this game, but when the pressure was on they put points on the board. Courtland Taylor ran for 85 yards and found his way into the endzone twice. Michael Brock also pick up two rushing touchdowns on the day. Quarterbacks Marc Picciola and Henri' Faucheux combined for 127 yards through the air.
The defense picked it up after the first half and gave the offense opportunities to make plays. Paul Celestine, Ethan Rome, and Matt Jacques all recovered fumbles for the Comets. Grant Authement and Justin Vicknair both came up with two crutial interceptions.
Special teams also affected the outcome. Alex Marse blocked and recovered a punt in the fourth quarter. This play changed the momentum of the game, and pushed the Comets passed the Panthers.
The Comets win streak now stands at 6 games. Next week the Comets will play against a very good Port Allen football team. The district championship is still up for grabs. The game will be at 7 p.m. at Thomas Dupuy stadium in Laplace.
