Comets shine in 28-7 win The Comets beat the H.L. Bourgeois Braves 28-7 to improve their record to 2-0 on the season. The offense scored on its first drive of the night and never looked back keeping the lead the rest of the game. The defense held a very powerful Brave offense to just seven points to help the Comets win. The special team also scored a touchdown when Jonathan Cancienne blocked a punt and Darin Helm picked it up for a score. Casey Robottom also had a big night for the Comets with a couple of great catches and a long touchdown run, Robottom ended his night with a total of 196 all-purpose yards to help lead the Comets to victory. The Braves would receive the ball first but would be shut down by the Comet defense. The offense took over on the 50 yard line. Matt Walters scoried from 2 yards out after a very impressive seven play drive to start the game. The rest of the 1st quarter would remain scoreless with a Comet lead of 7-0. The second quarter would be the biggest quarter of the night. H.L. Bourgeois would put together a good drive but the defense would stop it on a fumble recovery by Nick Adams. The Comets would then score on a 51-yard touchdown run by Casey Robottom to give the Comets a 14- 0 lead with 4:50 to go in the first half. H.L. Bourgeois would strike back on their next drive when quarterback Jake Hebert threw a 79-yard touchdown pass to Willie McKinley to make the score 14-7. Comets would put one more score right before the half with a 8 yard touchdown pass by Philip Sutton to Chris Jones to keep a 14 point lead at the half. The second half the defense would keep H.L Bourgeois scoreless with the help of Jared Nowell who would have a big interception to stop the Braves offense. The Cometoffense would put together some good drives but would be unable to score. The special teams would put up one more final score for the Comets when Cancienne would block a punt and Darin Helm would pick it up for the score. This would make the final score 28-7 and a comet win. The Comets racked up for a total of 276 yards on the night. Philip Sutton completed 6 out of 8 passes for 95 yards and Preston Landry would be 4 for 4 on extra point attempts. The Comets will travel to Pine on Thursday September 22 for the next game. Kickoff is at 7:00 p.m.
