Comets open season with shutout The comet football team opened their season Saturday September 10 at home against Jackson High School. The Comets looked very impressive and a good start to the 2005 season. The Comet offense produced 333 total yards having 219 rushing yards and 114 passing yards. But the big news of the game was the Comet defense pitchigna shutout and holding Jackson to 10 total yards the whole game and no first downs. The Comets had the ball first and knew exactly what to do and scored within 3 plays. Chase Fletcher scored on a 17 yard touchdown run. This would be 1 of 4 touchdown runs scored by Fletcher. The Comet defense was great and allowed no points the whole game. Fletcher would score three more times in the first quarter along with Jonathan Cancienne who also had a 12 yard touchdown run to make the score 28-0 after just one quarter. The rest of the game was played by the second and third string players. The second string also scored a touchdown when backup quarterback Vincent Rollo threw a 7-yard touchdown pass to Matt Ericksen. This touchdown would make the score 35-0 at halftime. The third quarter the Comets would score one more time.
