Comets crush Jonesboro-Hodge; The Comets traveled up north this past Friday night to Jonesboro-Hodge for the quarterfinals. The Comets scored early and never looked back as they beat Jonesboro 48-6. The Comet defense played an outstanding game holding Jonesboro to 121-yards of total offense and stopping running back Charles Scott, a LSU Signee, to only 72-yards on 26 carries. The offense also played well as they scored six touchdowns on the night. The Comets special teams also played very well as usual. Roland Ricca would block a punt to lead to a Comets score. Preston Landry would also be 6 for 7 on extra point attempts. The Comets would start the game on defense, and they would stop Jonesboro from making a first down to force a punt after just three plays. Jonesnoro's next possesion would not be much better. Garrad Lodrigues would intercept a pass and return it 8-yards for a touchdown. The following kickoff Jonesboro would answer back as Charles Scott of Jonesboro return it 96-yards for a touchdown. That would be Jonesboro's only score of the game. After a block punt by Roland Ricca, Chris Jones would score on a 13-yard touchdown run to increase the lead. Before the first quarter was over Philp Sutton would connect with Chase Fletcher fo a 23-yard touchdown pass o make the score 21-6 after just one quarter. The defense would shut down Jonesboro-Hodge the rest of the game. An interception by Micheal Troglen would set up anothr score for the Comets. Before the half Chris Jones would score for his second time. The Comets would go into halftime would a lead of 28-6. The Comets would have two more interceptions in the second half. Jared Nowell and Casey Robottom both would have an interception for the Comets. The offense would find the endzone three more times before the end of the game. The first one would be a 50-yard touchdown pass to Casey Robottom. The last two touchdowns would be by Matt Walters and Jonathan Concienne. The Comets dominated the whole game as they won 48-6. The Comets will host the semifinal game against Sterlington, the number one ranked team in 2A. The game is scheduled for Friday December 2 at Dupuy Stadium. Kickoff is at 7 pm.
