Comets cruise past Pine Comets traveled to Pine on Monday September 26 for a little Monday Night Football action. The Comets scored on their first drive of the night and kept scoring untill they got 49 points. The big lead by third quarter gave way for the second and third string to play the rest of the game. Casey Robottom had a big night with four touchdowns and two kickoff returns. Preston Landry would be 7 for 7 on extra points. The defense played well again only to give up six points to make the final score 49-6. Pine received the opening kickoff but were shut down in 3 plays and were forced to punt. The offense started with good field possestion from the Pine 36 yard line. Chase Fletcher score on a one yard touchdown run to give the Comets the first score of the night. The next offensive drive for Pine was stop on an interception by Garrad Lodrigues. This would set up a 2-yard touchdown by quarterback Philip Sutton.The Comets would lead 14-0 after the first quarter. The Comets would score again to start the second quarter when Philip Sutton threw a six yard touchdown pass to Casey Robottom. The defense made one mistake of the night when Pine scored on a 66-yard touchdown run. The extra point would be blocked to just make the score 21-6. The following kickoff the Comets would strike back when Casy Robottom would return the kickoff back for a touchdown. THe defense would settle down and not allow another score. Before the half was over Casey Robottom would score again on a 17-yard touchdown pass from Philip Sutton. The halftime score was 35-6. Casey Robottom would start the second half off with a bang. He would return the opening kickoff to 98-yards for a touchdown. Pine would remain scoreless the rest of the night. The defense would also recover two fumbles and another interception by David Matherne. Chris Jones would score the last touchdown of the night to make he final score 49-6. The Comets play again on Friday September 30 against West St. John. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. at Dupuy Stadium.
