The game started slowly for the Comets as the offense failed to score on its first possession while the defense gave up a 93 yard scoring drive on the Saints first possession. The Comets fell behind 7-0 near the end of the first quarter.
It did not get better on the Comets next possession as the Comets fumbled the ball over to the Saints. But the Saints returned the favor as they fumbled back to the Comets with Jordan Millet recovering at the Comet 26. This seemed to be the spark the Comet needed as they drove 74 yards in 14 plays for their first score of the game. Quarterback Vincent Rollo completed a 10 yard screen pass to receiver Alex Marse who darted into the endzone. Chris Ilski’s PAT tied the game at 7.
On the Saints next possession Jordan Millet forced a fumble that was recovered by Corey Reed on the Saints 36. On the next play Courtland Taylor dashed 36 yards around right end for a touchdown giving the Comets a lead they would not relinquish the rest of the game. Ilski’s kick made the score 14-7 midway through the second quarter.
The teams traded fumbles once again before the Saints went on another scoring drive that ended on a short touchdown run. A two point try failed and the score stood 14-13 in favor of SCC at the half.
The second half belonged to the Comets as they scored on every possession after the Vicknair interception early in the third quarter. Rollo completed a 16 yard pass to Devin Snyder on the final play of the third quarter at put the Comets up 28-13. In the 4th quarter Courtland Taylor and Jason Ray scored a three yard runs.
