Comet Flashback!!!!

1975 Comets

Season to Remember

In 1975, the St. Charles Comets raised the standard for Comet football  becoming the first team to win a district title by claiming the 8-A crown. Then after posting a 9-1 regular season mark, the Comets advanced  to the quarterfinals before bowing out to University High 26-7 in Baton Rouge. That game was played in Bernie Moore stadium on the LSU campus.

S. Charles was still located in Destrehan at the time. They competed in 8-A and were coached by George Schaefer. The Comets scored 310 points on the season allowing only 91. They averaged five touchdowns per game in their final four games of the season. The only team to defeat the Comets during the regular season was Central Catholic of Morgan City who did so by a score of 20-7. The Comets posted 3 shutouts over Fisher, Greensburg, and First Assembly of Metairie.

On of the best running backs to ever play for St  Charles was Hernandez Robottom. He lead the Comet offense along with quarterback Mark Denham and receiver Mark Almerico.
