Comets Sting Grace King

The Comets defense limited Grace King to no first downs and 29 yards total offense through three quarters as the Comets rolled to a 41-13 win  last Friday night in Dupuy stadium. The Comets record advanced to 2-0 but more importantly the win put the Comets in the top ten of the power ratings for the playoffs. Both St Paul and Grace King are 5-A teams which helps the Comets rating.
The Comets offense rolled on its first possession with Jamall Singleton scoring on a 6 yard run. The PAT gave SCC a 7-0 lead. On the next offensive possession quarterback  Jason Waguespack connected with receiver Matt Boucvalt for 8 yards and another touchdown. The touchdown was set up by the punt return team who pressured the King punter after an errant snap. The Comets took over deep in Irish territory.
On the next possession the Comets offense rolled  into the endzone once again as fullback Todd babin raced in form 22 yards out. The Comets scored one more time before halftime on a 14 yard pass form Waguespack to receiver Daress Nicholas. The PAT was wide left which made the score 27-0 at halftime. The Comet defense held King to 11 yards and no first downs in the first half.
The Comet offense went to work quickly in the third quarter. On the first offensive play after the kickoff Jamall Singleton raced 58 yards up the middle for a touchdown. The offensive line which had been opening up some nice holes all night long sprung Singleton who darted quickly into the secondary and split two defensive backs en route to the endzone.
The Comets quickly went to the second and third units midway through the third quarter. Freshman running back Tyrell Fenroy ran in from one yard out for the Comets final score.
The Comets will play the second of  four consecutive home game the Lawless Pythians a 3-A playoff team from a year ago. The Comets defeated lawless 7-6 in overtime last year after the game was scoreless at the end of regulation.  Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Dupuy stadium
