Comets finish spring
look to 2003 season
The 2003 Comet football team
worked through record heat this spring in search of many new faces
that will be in the starting line-up this fall. The Comets worked around
the conclusion of spring sports and baseball playoffs and were able
to get in 14 days of practice before concluding with a
scrimmage against Slidell Saturday May 17 in Slidell. The
scrimmage ended in a tie with each team scoring four times. The
scrimmage was controlled with no kicking, punting or extra
points.
Summer workouts begin Monday June
2 with weightlifting sessions at 6:00, 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. High
school players will lift at 6 and 8 while the 10 a.m. session will
be a camp for incoming freshmen and middle school athletes. The
Comets will begin fall drills in August. The Comets will scrimmage
Ellender at home on August 21. The Comet take on 5-A power Destrehan
in the jamboree August 29. The season opener is against Terrebonne
at home Friday September 5. The Comets will then face Redeemer
Seton, Lawless, Grace King, West St. John, St. James, Assumption,
Donaldsonville, E. D. White, and Lutcher.
