The Comets offense had been struggling for most of the season. A combination of youth, inexperience and poor field conditions have added up to inconsistency in offensive production. Friday night that came to and end as the Comets rushed for over 400 yards and piled up 56 points to route St. Thomas of Aquinas 56-14. The win upped the Comets overall record to 6-2 and clinched a playoff berth in the state playoffs. Next Friday the Comets close out the regular season at Lutcher. The Comets offense scored early and often with a 28 point first quarter. Leading the way were running backs Tyrell Fenroy and Cedric White. Fenroy who is only a sophomore ran for 202 yards and scored 4 touchdown, while White powered his way to 144 yards and 3 touchdowns. Chris Cancienne recovered a Falcon fumble on the opening kickoff. But the Comets first possession ended with no points and a fumble. But after that the Comets rolled to 35 points scoring on 5 of their next 6 possessions. Fenroy scored on runs of 2 , 30 and 39 yards. Rod Remondet scored on a 1 yard run. Cedric White scored on an 11 yard run. White's touchdown was set-up by an interception by Steven Green. The Comets exploded for 21 third quarter points. Fenroy ran over and through Falcon defenders on a 32 yard touchdown run down the Comet sideline. White ran from 4 yards and then 20 to close out the Comet scoring on the night. The Comets played junior varsity players rest of the way. Next Friday the Comets travel to Lutcher to play the Bulldogs in a10-AAA contest that will decide 3rd place in the district. Both teams have already qualified for the playoffs. The winner of the game should secure a first round playoff game at home. Lutcher and St Charles have played nine times since 1989 with the Bulldogs hold a slight edge in the series 5-4.
