Honoring Father Benny
In 1971 Father Benny began as a chaplain and was named pastor of the new arising parish Ascension of Our Lord in 1979. In the past, masses used to be held in what is now called the Metcalf Weight Room. Through his leadership, the school and community developed into a thriving parish. Since then Father Benny has held thousands of masses and has conducted countless prayer services, retreats, and other spiritual events.
Father Benny celebrated his last SCC student body mass on Thursday, November 16. His dream since he was very young was to be a missionary. During the Thanksgiving holidays, Father Benny and other student volunteers departed on their traditional mission trip to Satillo, Mexico to help the residents of that parish. Only this time, Father Benny did not return to LaPlace following the trip.

Father Benny has been a model of service for all of us. We want to thank Father Benny for everything he has done for SCC. He will truly be missed. Please pray for Father Benny as he begins this new chapter in his life.

" Father Benny's example to us-and, I would venture to guess, his intended legacy to leave with us- is holiness. Father Benny has consistently lived out his own call to holiness and without fail called us to ours." - Mr. Simon

"Father Benny is a strong and loving man with a caring heart."- Anna Marie Taylor

"Father Benny has been a big influence in my life. He has helped make me the strong Catholic person I am today." Norbert Weinert
